Boy feeds calf with bottle

Students from Mr. Botsford’s and Mrs. Winter’s Language Concepts classes took a field trip to A. Ooms & Sons Dairy Farm in Valatie on May 17. While at the farm, the children hand-fed Holstein cows and goats. They bottle-fed a calf and got to see cows being milked using state-of-the-art robotic milking machines. The children got to climb into a John Deere tractor. They learned that the Ooms' success in farming dates back to the 1500s in the Netherlands. The children even got to taste one of the dairy's end products, Cabot cheese, before departing back to school.
