Chatham Central School District is a public school system located at 50 Woodbridge Avenue in the Village of Chatham, New York. The District serves the educational needs of approximately 950 students enrolled in pre-kindergarten through grade twelve. Chatham CSD operates three school buildings, all located on Woodbridge Avenue: The Mary E. Dardess Elementary School (MED), serving students in grades Pre K-5; Chatham Middle School, serving students in grades 6-8; and Chatham High School, serving students in grades 9-12.
In addition, the District operates the Chatham Public Library, one of only two public libraries in NYS that are within a school district. The Chatham Public Library, also located on Woodbridge Avenue (with a branch located in Canaan, NY), offers a full range of modern library services to the community and boasts an original Louis Comfort Tiffany stained glass window.
Geographically, Chatham CSD is made up of most or part of the towns of Chatham, Ghent, Austerlitz, Canaan, Kinderhook, and New Lebanon – all located in northern Columbia County.
The Mission of the Chatham Central School District is to provide students an education that nurtures intellectual curiosity and focuses on academic and cultural foundations. Our students will graduate with the knowledge, problem-solving abilities and character needed to participate ethically, adapt, succeed and contribute in their future educational, career, and community endeavors.
