Chatham CSD’s transportation department got a perfect score on its 2021-22 NYS Department of Transportation Bus Inspection System Operator Profile. The profile, which summarizes a total of 94 safety inspections conducted by the state on our bus fleet over the past year, showed a 100 percent pass rate!

“Every vehicle that we transport students in has a mandatory inspection twice per year,” explained Joshua Loeffler, Chatham’s supervisor of transportation services. “They inspect the ins and outs of the entire vehicle to make sure it is safe to drive.”

The NYS Department of Transportation (DOT) goal is a pass rate of 90 percent or better. A letter from the DOT that accompanied Chatham’s Bus Inspection System Operator Profile, received by the District this May,  congratulated Chatham on achieving this goal, stating, “Your commendable performance indicates a strong dedication to safety and commitment to sound maintenance standards and practices.”

“I’m very proud of the work that our transportation employees do every day to ensure our students get to and from school safely,” said Chatham's superintendent of schools, Dr. Sal DeAngelo.
