Sound the alarms, it was Fire Prevention Day at MED! Local volunteer firefighters from Chatham, Ghent, Spencertown, Tri-Village, and East Chatham paid our students a visit on October 9 to share life-saving tips on what to do if a fire ever breaks out at school or at home. In true MED spirit, school secretary Elaine Van Alstyne and teacher aide Nicole Ferris "volunteered" to try on the heavy protective firefighter suits. Following a school-wide fire drill, the firefighters stopped by individual classrooms to answer questions and dive deeper into safety habits. To cap off the event, several firefighters joined the students in the cafeteria for pizza Friday. We extend our warmest thanks to our local heroes for taking the time to educate and inspire our young ones!
