Our 3rd-grade students visited Chatham Middle School for their final shared event of the school year, Resilience Day! The day’s activities focused on the theme of resilience, defined as the capacity to maintain core purpose and integrity in the face of changing circumstances.

To prepare for the visit, 7th graders researched a diverse group of individuals whose lives demonstrate how resilience fosters success, including athletes, scientists, activists, and artists such as Bethany Hamilton, Martin Luther King Jr., Marie Curie, Audie Murphy, and many more. Using Canva publishing software, the 7th graders created customized research posters to share their findings.

During the event, the 7th graders guided their 3rd-grade partners through four interactive stations, including a Hero Walk to explore the research posters and discuss which individuals inspired them the most, Games of Resilience, including Uno and Hot Potato to practice teamwork and adaptability, and the Crafts Station where students colored customized "Resilience Bookmarks" designed entirely by the 7th-grade students.

We are proud of our students for hosting this event and demonstrating firsthand how perseverance, grit, and determination lead to success!
