Chatham High School's Agribusiness and Life Skills classes visited three local dairy farms on May 7. This was a day full of learning, laughter, and collaboration between students who learned from each other. The Agribusiness class set out to analyze different farms that produce a similar product. Students learned about input costs, animal nutrition and welfare, succession planning, and technology used to farm. This also inspired ideas for many of the Agribusiness students' final projects, where they will create their own business plan. For both our Agribusiness and Life Skills classes, the trip provided real-world experiences and instilled a sense of the importance of life-long learning.
Special thanks to Tim Ooms of A. Ooms and Sons Dairy, Nate Chittenden of Dutch Hollow Farm, and Kent, Brett and Calvin Keller of Holly Rock Farms for giving our students a great experience!
