students tour Questar shop

The CMS Counseling & Guidance Department recently took 19 motivated 8th graders to a tour of Questar III in Hudson. This visit offered a first-hand look at the diverse Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways available to our students.

Throughout the day, students engaged with instructors and current Questar students from programs including Nursing, Welding, Carpentry, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, HVAC, EMS, and Criminal Justice. These hosts provided invaluable insight into their respective trades and discussed the essential skills — like a strong work ethic — required for success in these programs.

The trip helped these 8th graders set their sights on the future by showing them that rewarding career paths are out their waiting for them. The impact was immediate; one student shared with Mrs. Hoffman that they "couldn't wait to start planning" their future!

CMS extends a big thanks to Lakia Walker at Questar for coordinating this visit. The momentum continues in May, when Mrs. Hoffman hosts a Career & Futures Day for the entire 8th-grade class.
