MED turned the page on an incredible week! From March 2nd (Dr. Seuss’ birthday) to March 6th, students dove headfirst into the wonderful world of reading for Read Across America Week. The school had Mystery Readers lined up to read a Dr. Seuss classic each morning during announcements, and each day had a different theme (such as Green Eggs & Ham) for students and staff to come to school dressed for. Naturally, the library was a flurry of activity all week. The PTO went out of their way to dress up the space for this special occasion and students weren't just reading, but doing! Library teacher Mariah Hogencamp had the students jump into STEAM activities specifically designed to bring those stories to life. The National Education Association sponsors Read Across America Week each year to encourage reading and educate people about its many benefits.
