The Chatham High School Drama Club will be taking audiences 'under the sea' with their production of Disney's The Little Mermaid! Tickets are $5 and performances are March 13 & 14 at 7:00 p.m. and March 15 at 2:00 p.m., with a special pay-what-you-can preview performance on March 12 at 5:30 p.m., all in the CHS auditorium.
Mermaid Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, strikes a bargain with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs so she can pursue human Prince Eric in the world above. But the bargain is not what it seems and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and Sebastian the crab to restore order beneath the waves. With favorite songs like "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl," and "Part of Your World," this musical is sure to capture your heart!
Director Eddie Knight, a Chatham alum, says, "This was one of the most highly requested shows from students after Grease last year, and since The Little Mermaid was my first Chatham Drama Club show in 2005 at the MED, how could I say no to revisiting this beloved story?"
Featuring a cast and crew of nearly 40 CHS and CMS students, the creative team includes Chatham teachers as well as several other Chatham alumni who have gone on to work professionally in the theatre industry, including Sam Reilly (head scenic charge and vice president of Upstate Scenic) and Lauren Wrigley (former associate patron services manager at Mac-Haydn Theatre and a WNYT Top Teacher).
