The Next Festival of Emerging Artists visited Chatham Middle School to conduct a workshop with our 7th and 8th grade orchestra students. The conductor and founder of the group, Peter Askim, worked on performance techniques and gave our students a chance to interact with the group, made up of young adults from all over the world who only perform together for two weeks! The Nest Festival also put on an assembly for all of CMS that started with our 7/8 orchestra students playing alongside this group for the piece "Sharks of Seville" by Deborah Baker Monday. Then, the Next Festival performed multiple different modern orchestra pieces and talked about how they relate to emotion. This is the Next Festival's third year in a row visiting CMS.
