Student dressed in Grim Reaper costume

CHS’ Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) hosted a “Grim Reaper Day” at CHS April 29. A gong sounded over the PA system every 39 minutes throughout the day signifying that someone had just “died” due to an alcohol related accident. After each gong, a SADD member dressed as the Grim Reaper appeared in a classroom to choose a “victim,” who then put on a black t-shirt and remained silent for the remainder of the day. Even Mr. Forrest, CHS's assistant principal, couldn't escape the Reaper's scythe! This dramatization was designed to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving and reinforce the reality that making poor choices can have a lasting and sometimes fatal effect. SADD organized the event to coincide with prom season.
