John L. Miles, son of Nancy and Geoff Miles of Chatham, NY, is Chatham High School’s Class of 2023 Valedictorian.
Throughout his time at Chatham, John has partaken in a wide variety of clubs and organizations including National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Book Club, and Student Government. He has also competed on the varsity tennis team as well as the modified volleyball team.
John has been heavily involved in music and the arts throughout his life. He has been an avid part of both the orchestra and chorus since elementary school, participating in All-County and the NYSSMA festivals. In addition, he has been an active member at the Faxon School of Dance for over a decade and has participated in numerous performances such as Mamma Mia, High School Musical, and Macbeth.
In addition, John has volunteered for the Spencertown Academy, assisted at an adult technology class, and frequently enjoys hiking in his spare time. He has received multiple awards over the years including Student of the Quarter, Excellence in Effort, and Highest Average Awards, as well as the Frederick Douglas and Susan B. Anthony Award from the University of Rochester.
In the fall, John will be attending Lafayette College where he intends to major in either economics or pharmaceutical research with a minor in education.
