Sam Hoffman

Sam Hoffman, child of Michelle and Michael Hoffman, is Chatham High School’s Class of 2023 Salutatorian.

Sam is the co vice president of National Honor Society, the secretary of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and a member of the Business and Marketing Honor Society of NYS. Throughout high school, Sam was on high honor roll every quarter. This year, Sam was awarded the Capstone Skill Award for Situational Awareness and the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award. Sam also received numerous Excellence in Effort, Student of the Quarter, and Highest Overall Average awards during high school. In 2021, Sam was given an honorable mention in the Bridging Divides, Healing Communities Youth Film Challenge for the film he/she/they. Sam is an active member of the Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion Club and Debate Club at CHS. Sam plays trumpet in the school band and jazz band, and participated in All County and Jazz All County festivals. Sam participated annually in CHS musicals and Fall Festival of Shakespeare productions both as a sound technician and actor. This past spring, Sam was also an actor in the Spring Young Company at Shakespeare & Co. in Lenox, Massachusetts. Outside of school, Sam was a longtime volunteer at the Spencertown Academy Festival of Books and the New Lebanon Library. During summers, Sam works at the Columbia County Youth Theatre as a technical intern and student video editor.

Sam will be attending Ithaca College this fall to major in theater production and design.
