At CCSD, student and staff safety is a priority. Following our early dismissal on Monday for staff development, CCSD faculty participated in an exercise on reuniting students with their parents or guardians in the event of an emergency situation where the District is unable to transport students home. The event was facilitated by a team from the Questar III BOCES Health and Safety Service, led by Craig Hansen, Questar’s chief emergency officer, and Eric Barnes, a Questar senior health and safety specialist and former NYS Police investigator. The training included a discussion of the Standard Reunification Method and a hands-on simulation of a reunification event, where our faculty assumed the roles of students, parents, or school safety team members. The afternoon training provided our District with proven methods for planning, practicing, and achieving successful reunification of our students with their families
