The CHS Theater Production & Marketing class and members of the musical production team at Columbia County Youth Theatre took a field trip to Upstate Scenic, a professional scene production shop founded and located here in Chatham. An in-demand company, Upstate Scenic works on set pieces for film and shows on and off Broadway , and has built sets that have gone as far as Miami and London!
Students spent a few hours at the shop learning from Sam Reilly (scenic charge and VP of Upstate Scenic) and Andy Smith (founder and president). Students took a tour of the shop, were able to see some of the projects in production, and had the opportunity to ask questions and learn about the company and industry. Theater Production is a year long theater/business elective where the students work directly on producing and marketing all of the musicals here at Chatham.
