Silent Auction, Raffle, Ice Cream Social at MED Saturday, December 9 from 3-5pm. Raffle winners will be announced at 4:45pm!
Today we practiced a lockdown drill in all three of our school buildings. We were assisted by officers from local law enforcement. The students and staff handled the drills very well.
As I have stated in the past, it is important that we periodically practice these drills, as we can never let our guard down when it comes to the safety of our children. Schools in New York are required to conduct a minimum of four lockdown drills per year.

Please note that Friday, December 22 is the first day of our Holiday Recess and there will be no classes on that day. The print version of our calendar shows December 22 as a regular day of school, which is an error. Students return from break on January 2. Please be sure to update your calendars!
Calendar update: Please note that the early dismissal times for parent conferences have changed from the time listed on our print calendar. On December 7 & 11 and March 19 & 21, MED will dismiss students at 11:30 a.m. Please be sure to mark your calendars!
Notice is hereby given that the annual inspection for the 2023-24 school year of the school buildings of the Chatham Central School District for fire hazards which might endanger the lives of students, teachers, and employees therein, has been completed and the report thereof is available at the office of the director of facilities, 50 Woodbridge Avenue, Chatham, NY 12037 for inspection by all interested persons.
Calendar update: our 2nd mandatory bus drills scheduled for Monday, November 13 (bus riders) and Tuesday, November 14 (walkers only) have been rescheduled to Thursday, November 16 and Friday, November 17, respectively. Please be sure to mark your calendars!

The students and staff handled the drill very well and we would like to commend everyone on their attention to the matter. It is important that we periodically practice these drills as part of our regular safety procedures. Schools in New York are required to conduct a minimum of four lockdown drills each school year. Calendar update: the Grade 5 Winter Concert originally scheduled for January 10 has been rescheduled to January 11, 2024.
Our Faculty Basketball Game is Wednesday, November 1 at 6pm, when CHS & CMS faculty take on MED faculty in the CHS gym. Suggested donation is $2 students/$5 adults. Proceeds benefit Chatham's Class of 2025.
The MED PTA hosts its Trunk-or-Treat event Saturday, October 21 from 4-6pm in the MED parking lot. This is a fun, safe event that is always a good time!
MED's Halloween Parade is Tuesday, October 31 at 9:30 a.m. Parents can watch the parade from the bleachers or around the outside of the fence at the track/football field. Parents will not be allowed inside the building after the parade. In the event of inclement weather, we will hold our parade inside the building and will live stream from our gymnasium.
All Chatham Central schools are releasing students 15 minutes early today, October 6, for the annually required drill to practice emergency dismissal procedures.
The Chatham Education Foundation is currently accepting applications from students, teachers, administrators, and community members for initiatives that enhance the educational experience of students in the Chatham Central School District. Applications are due by October 14. Possible projects include, but are not limited to: independent study; new programs; extracurricular activities; individual creative projects in or outside the classroom; visiting speakers; artists-in-residence; professional development for teachers; scientific, athletic, or technical equipment; library resources and class field trips. The MED PTA's first meeting of the 2023-23 school year is September 20, 6pm at the Morris Memorial building in Chatham.
MED parents: Open House for grades K-3 is September 13 from 6-7:15pm and grades 4-5 is September 18 from 6-7pm. We want your children to be able to “show off” our great school! Teachers will have information for you, and will be available to answer general classroom questions. You are free to roam around the building and meet all the staff. So yes…KIDS ARE INVITED! We cannot wait to see you!
All Chatham Central schools will operate on a regular schedule for Monday, September 11, 2023. All Kindergarten students should report for a full day of classes.
All Chatham CSD schools and offices are closed today, Friday, September 8, due to power outages and storm damage in the area.
