Friday, May 17, 2024 is an early dismissal day for all schools in order to accommodate senior capstone presentations in the afternoon. The dismissal times have been set as follows: CMS 10:50 a.m., MED 11:05 a.m., CHS 11:15 a.m. Please be sure to update your calendars!

Enjoy a late morning or early afternoon of painting and goodies when the Class of 2027 hosts a Canvas & Cookies painting event on Saturday, April 13. Two sessions will be hosted to accommodate painters of all age groups (10am families with students k-5, Noon adults & students grade 6 and up). Sessions will be led by retired Chatham art teacher Patrice Tomaso featuring a design for elementary and a sunset scene for adults & students grade 6 and up. Cost is $15 per person, which includes a canvas and various baked goods to choose enjoy. All proceeds will benefit our freshmen class. Sometime during the week of March 25, 2024, we will practice lockdown drills in all three of our school buildings. Officers from the Chatham Police Department, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, and New York State Police will assist us. As you know, it is important that we periodically practice these drills with as many different variables as possible; our goal is to make sure our students and staff are prepared and safe. Update 3/19: We have found a modified softball coach, thank you! - We are in need of a modified softball coach - the season starts March 25 and we have 11 girls signed up. The Athletic Booster Club is holding a meeting on February 12th at 7pm at the high school to discuss the future of the Booster Club. This includes finding new officers and members to be able to sustain the Booster Club, which aids Chatham CSD’s athletic teams/programs. Without members, the Booster Club could be in jeopardy of dissolving. If you are interested in joining the Booster Club, please plan to attend the meeting as well as help spread the word.

The 8th grade is selling Little Caesars Pizza Kits to raise money for an end-of-the-year trip to Boston. To reach their goal, they need everyone’s help. It’s super easy to participate and help them raise some dough! All Chatham Central Schools will be on a 2-hour delay today, Wednesday, January 24, 2024, due to a winter weather advisory. Important info for CHS students: Regents exams are delayed until 9 am. Students should report by 9 am if they are scheduled for Geometry or U.S History and Government Regents exams. The A.P. US History midterm exam has been rescheduled to Wednesday, January 24 at 12:30 pm. The English 10 midterm, the Pre AP English 10 midterm, and the English 10 Concepts midterm have all been rescheduled to Thursday, January 25 at 12:30 pm. All other exams will take place as scheduled.

All after-school activities are canceled today, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 due to the forecast for inclement weather. Tonight’s Board of Education meeting will take place as scheduled at 5:00 p.m.

Chatham CSD is examining the sustainability of our football program. Participation numbers have dropped in the last few years. The Board of Education is committed to a process that examines all aspects of the program and what future options are in the best interest of our students and community before any decision is made. As part of this process, the District would like to gauge interest in the program and obtain a projection of participation for the Fall 2024 season at the Modified 9 (grades 7-9) and Varsity (grades 10-12) levels. We are asking any students in grades 6-11 who may be considering playing football for Chatham to complete this brief survey. The survey results will inform the Board’s decision on the direction it will take for the 2024 Fall season. Dear Chatham families, Chatham athletics invites you to a community meeting to discuss the current status and future outlook of our football program on Thursday, January 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the CHS auditorium. Meeting will be hosted by Athletic Director John Brantley, Principal John Thorsen, and Superintendent Sal DeAngelo. We encourage anyone with an interest in our football program to take part in this important discussion.
