John Roloson

The Chatham Central School District has appointed John Roloson as the temporary dean of students at Mary E. Dardess Elementary School. His responsibilities include building supportive structures for students, addressing disciplinary and attendance concerns, and fostering family engagement, among other duties. Mr. Roloson will serve in this temporary position to support our students and families while the District conducts a search to fill the vacant assistant principal position at MED. The vacancy was created when former assistant principal Brett Fortran was appointed principal at Chatham Middle School this September.

Roloson has worked as a physical education teacher at MED for the past 23 years. “Being a physical education teacher here has allowed me to build a positive foundation with all the kids, and I’ve been here long enough that there are quite a few of our parents who I’ve had as students as well,” he said. “Chatham is a very special place and I’m excited to be able to work with our students, families and staff in a different way.”

While Roloson serves as dean of students, physical education classes will continue to be taught by MED physical education teacher Linda Colwell and a substitute teacher.
