Mrs. Van Wie and Ms. Winter's 2nd grade class celebrated the ending of their latest Core Knowledge Language Arts unit on early Asian civilizations by recreating an important Chinese invention - paper! Students made their own paper with shredded newspaper and screens, and also decorated paper lanterns. Throughout this unit, students learned how ancient Asian civilizations formed around mighty rivers and about the different aspects that make up a civilization, like jobs, leadership, writing systems, and religion. The students are excited to move to the next unit on another ancient civilization...Greece!
