Stop, drop, and roll! October 10 was Fire Prevention Day at MED! Volunteer firefighters from Chatham, Ghent, Spencertown, and Tri Village showed the students what to do if there is ever a fire at school or at home. They brought in their big trucks and gear so the kids could see what they use on the job, and because big trucks and gear are cool, of course! In the spirit of volunteerism, MED physical education teachers Ms. Hapeman and Coach Mayo were "volunteered" to try on the protective suits firefighters have to wear. The whole school then aced a fire drill and, after, the firefighters went classroom to classroom to talk more in depth about fire safety. Fridays are pizza days at MED, so of course many of the volunteers joined our students in the cafeteria for lunch. Special thanks to the firefighters in our community - you're always a student favorite!
