Effective December 4, Chatham CSD will officially begin using the Raptor Visitor Management System in all of our schools. Part of keeping our schools safe is knowing who is in our buildings at all times. The Raptor system will better allow us to screen and keep track of visitors and provide a safer environment for our students and staff.
Upon entering one of our school buildings, parents, contractors, volunteers, and other visitors will be asked to present positive identification such as a driver’s license, which can either be scanned or manually entered into the system. Once the visitor is approved to enter the building, Raptor will issue a temporary badge that identifies the visitor, the date, and the purpose of his/her visit. A visitor’s badge will not be necessary for those activities that do not require entrance into the building like dropping off an item or picking up paperwork.
The Raptor Visitor Management system allows us to quickly identify those who may present a danger to our students by checking the visitor's name and date of birth against a national database of registered sex offenders. The sex offender registry is the only official database checked by the Raptor system. No other data from the ID is gathered or recorded and the information is not shared with any outside agency.
