Sixth Grade Supply List

2026-27

Dear Chatham Middle School Families,

It is hard to believe that summer vacation will be over soon. We hope you had an enjoyable summer and are ready for a productive sixth-grade year.

The sixth-grade teachers are Mrs. Wallace, Mrs. Velez, Mr. Kline, and Ms. Wrigley. Teacher pages/Google Classroom will inform you about projects, assignments, and special events. Additionally, students are expected to use a homework calendar to record both long-term and short-term assignments.

An important part of sixth grade is organization. You will need to bring the following items on the first day of school:

General Supplies

  • Zippered pencil case

  • 5 packages of pencils 

  • Eraser caps/erasers

  • Homework folder (plastic)

  • Earbuds/Headphones

  • 1 package of Post-it notes

  • 1-2 glue sticks

  • 1 package of colored pencils 

  • 2 boxes of tissue

Language Arts: 

  • 1 plastic red folder

  • Red 1-subject notebook

Math:

  • Black 3-subject plastic-covered spiral notebook

  • 1 black folder

Science:

  • Green 1 subject notebook

  • 1 2” binder

  • 5 subject binder dividers

Social Studies:

  • 1-Subject blue notebook

  • 1 plastic blue folder 

General Music

  • Pencils

Band, Orchestra and Chorus

  • All students need concert black bottoms and a black top

  • Students will need a working instrument.

 Please email Mrs. Metrando -BAND (metrandoj@chatham.k12.ny.us) or Ms. Gruber - ORCHESTRA (grubera@chatham.k12.ny.us) if you need to rent an instrument from the school. Be sure to mark the concert dates on the calendar as soon as you receive them in September.

Technology: 

  • Pencils

  • 5 subject dividers

  • 1” binder

Family & Consumer Science:

  • Green Pocket Folder

  • 20 pieces of loose-leaf paper

  • Pencils

Art: 

Students will need the following supplies to keep at home: 

  • 1 box 24 crayons  

  • 1 box markers 

  • a pair of scissors
