Mrs.Velez’s grade 6 social studies class celebrated the Lunar New Year when students returned to school from winter break. Students arrived to a freshly cleaned classroom decorated in red and gold with a Dragon hung from the ceiling. The class had made red envelopes prior to break and students found them stuffed with gold coins and, for a lucky few, homework passes! They made dragon puppets for a parade, cooked egg rolls, practiced eating lo mein with chopsticks, learned the symbolism of the food.
