Chatham Middle School's new Fishing Club spent the morning of April 22 helping the Ghent Sportsman's Association stock their pond for their annual free youth fishing derby, happening Saturday, April 26. The students became the bucket brigade, portaging hundreds of trout from the hatchery truck to the pond's edge, where club members gently tossed the fish into the water. Along with learning about fish stocking, the students got first look at the secret trophy fish the Sportsman's Association has in store for this year's derby.
