CHS’ Books & Beyond Club and Mr. Tillinghast’s Pre-AP 9th grade English class created a StoryWalk® on campus for young students to enjoy. They used the book Nervous Rex, written by former CMS principal Michael Burns. After meeting with the Books & Beyond Club last year, Mr. Burns generously donated three of his books to build the StoryWalk® with. The students were able to make this idea a reality through a grant provided by the Chatham Education Foundation of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, which sponsored the frames to house the story pages. Ms. Flanigan & Ms. Shetsky’s 1st-grade classes were the first to experience the StoryWalk®. The 9th Grade Pre-AP students guided the youngsters along the walk, helping them to understand the story’s message and complete activities along the way. They plan on showcasing the StoryWalk® more MED next school year and making new ones in the years to come.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT, and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
