Students in 8th grade undertook a cross-curricular study of the holocaust that allowed them to tie together in a meaningful way the many overarching factors that led to the persecution of Jews and other groups in Germany and made the horrors of the holocaust possible. Students first became familiar with a particular individual from history and then, using a multi-layered wall timeline, visualized how Nazi policy, the Second World War, and other historical events impacted that person. This lesson was provided by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and was led by CMS school librarian Donna Eager, social studies teacher Mark Connelly, and English teacher Jeffery Artist.
