Chatham Middle School eighth graders Bailey McShane and Landon Van Alstyne are 2023 recipients of the Triple C Award, an honor presented by Attorney General Letitia James’ office that recognizes the “Character, Courage and Commitment” of hard working students in New York State. CMS nominated Bailey and Landon for this prestigious honor because they have demonstrated Triple “C” qualities in their pursuits to better themselves, their school, and their community. Both students have served as Key Communicators during their three years at CMS, have provided support to sixth grade students through their school’s Peer Buddies program, and are active members of National Junior Honor Society. As CMS’s NJHS president, Bailey oversees numerous community service initiatives, while Landon works to reduce prejudice, conflict, and bullying as a member of his school’s National Coalition Building Institute program.
