CMS hosted Chatham Area Silent Pantry and Regional Food Bank facilitators to explain food insecurity across our region and ways people can get help. Regional Food Bank representatives explained the process of supplying foods through farms and the NYS Food Donation And Food Scraps Recycling law. In addition, students discussed ways to assist others. Columbia County has a twelve-percent food insecurity rate. CMS students will be creating thanksgiving baskets for area families this month. If you would like to assist, please call the CMS guidance office. A reminder that Chatham schools offer weekend nutrition programs for students, if in need please call your school's main office.
