COVID-19 Update – CHS Shifts to Remote Learning March 18-22

(March 17, 2021)

Dear Chatham High School families,

I am writing to inform you that Chatham High School must switch to remote learning starting tomorrow, March 18 and lasting through Monday, March 22. All high school students will report to classes online. In-person instruction at the High School will resume on Tuesday, March 23.

The shift is due to quarantine related staffing shortages resulting from additional contact tracing that was required of a COVID-19 case we previously reported to you. The Columbia County Department of Health (DOH) alerted us to this today and our District assisted them with notifying any close contacts in the school setting who must quarantine. If you were not directly contacted by a school representative or the DOH, you will not need to take any action.

While we understand that you may want more details, privacy laws prohibit us from sharing or confirming personally identifiable information about anyone who has tested positive.

Mary E. Dardess Elementary School students and Chatham Middle School students will attend in-person classes as usual.

Transportation for CTE, private, parochial, and other out-of-district placed students will continue as normal as well.

Grab-and-go meals are available at no cost for all students learning remotely. Meal pick up is from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the MED front door. Please email or call Barb Murray (, 518-392-1536) to reserve your meals.
