(February 19, 2021)
Due to the Department of Health regulation about testing student athletes weekly prior to competitions with another school, we will begin COVID-19 testing on Monday, February 22nd and Tuesday, February 23rd. The testing will be conducted by our district nurses. The testing will be the rapid (non-invasive) test in which the results will be done within 15-30 minutes.
Monday, February 22nd
- Varsity Girls Basketball
- Varsity Boys Basketball
- Varsity Boys Volleyball
Tuesday, February 23rd
- JV Girls Basketball
- JV Boys Basketball
- Varsity Cheerleading
The test will be given after school starting at 2:45 p.m. Students who are remote should try and be at the school by 3:00 p.m. Practices on Monday and Tuesdays will not start until 3:30 (at the earliest).
Location: The test will be conducted in the technology classroom near the art rooms by the end of the hall. Students will come into the doors near the technology room/custodian room and enter the cafeteria. Once they are in the cafeteria, a staff member will assign the student a designated chair or desk to sit until they are called to take the test. After they are given the test, they will return back to their designated seat (same one) until their results are complete. Once they are complete, they will be released from the cafeteria.
** Students who are in-person instruction may be pulled during their lunch, study hall and/or physical education class during the day to alleviate the number of students that need to test after school.
For example: If Monday is an M-Z day, any winter athlete who is in-person on Monday (regardless of what level you are playing) MAY be tested during the day. So…..if a JV student athlete is in school on Monday and he/she was tested, they do not need to take the test on Tuesday.
*** If a student tests positive, they will immediately go into an isolation room and parents will be notified. Contact tracing will then begin within the school and teams (if necessary).
