COVID-19 Update Feb. 1, 2021 – 7th Grade Fully Remote Through Feb. 5, Positive Case Reported at MED

(February 1, 2021)

Dear Chatham Families,

I wanted to provide you with an update on the COVID-19 situation in our District. Yesterday, I informed you about a positive case impacting Chatham Middle School’s operations. We have completed the contact tracing and notified all close contacts associated with this case. As a result of numerous staff quarantines affecting our ability to conduct in-person classes, all seventh grade students will remain on fully-remote learning through Friday, February 5. Seventh grade students should check their email and Google classrooms for communications from their teachers. Sixth grade and eighth grade students are cleared to return to in-person learning as of tomorrow, February 2, weather permitting.

I also wanted to let you know that we were informed today that an MED student has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. There is no contact tracing needed within the school setting as a result of this case.

While we understand that you may want more details, privacy laws prohibit us from sharing or confirming personally identifiable information about anyone who has tested positive.

Sincerely,

Sal DeAngelo
Superintendent of Schools
