COVID-19 Update Jan. 31, 2021- Positive Case Reported at CMS

(January 31, 2021)

Dear Chatham families,

This afternoon, the District learned of a Chatham Middle School student who has tested positive for COVID-19. The student was last on campus January 28. To allow time to perform the contact tracing and notification necessary for this case, the Middle School will switch to fully-remote learning for Monday, February 1. All Middle School students will report to classes online tomorrow. The District, in consultation with the Columbia County Department of Health (DOH), will notify any close contacts in the school setting who need to quarantine as a result of this case. If you are not directly contacted by a school representative or the DOH, you will not need to take any action. I will provide you with an update on Monday about whether or not there will be any additional impact on the Middle School’s operations.

While we understand that you may want more details, privacy laws prohibit us from sharing or confirming personally identifiable information about anyone who has tested positive.
