COVID-19 Update Jan. 26 – Positive Cases Reported

(January 26, 2021)

Dear Chatham Families,

We have been notified of two positive COVID-19 cases that affect our school district.

  • A Chatham Central School District transportation employee has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Contact tracing in the school setting was required for this case. The employee last worked January 21. Our District assisted the Columbia County Department of Health (DOH) in conducting the contact tracing and we have identified and notified all close contacts associated with this case. If you have not been directly contacted by a school representative or the DOH, you do not need to take any action.

  • It was reported to us this week that a Chatham High School student tested positive for the COVID-19 virus during the period that all schools were on remote learning. There is no need for contact tracing within the school setting as a result of this case.

While we understand that you may want more details, privacy laws prohibit us from sharing or confirming personally identifiable information about anyone who has tested positive or is presumed positive.

Sincerely,

Sal DeAngelo
Superintendent
