COVID-19 Update January 11 – Positive Cases Reported

(January 11, 2021)

Dear Chatham Families,

We were informed about four positive COVID-19 cases affecting MED.

  • A MED staff member tested positive for the virus. The staff member was last on campus on December 23. There is no need for contact tracing within the school setting as a result of this case.
  • Two MED students have tested positive for the virus. Both students were last on campus on January 6. Contact tracing in the school setting was required for these cases.
  • The Department of Health has identified a MED staff member as a presumed positive case. The employee was last on campus on January 6. Contact tracing in the school setting was required for this case.

Our District assisted the Columbia County Department of Health (DOH) in conducting contact tracing. We have identified and notified all close contacts in the school setting associated with these cases. If you have not been directly contacted by a school representative or the DOH, you do not need to take any action.

While we understand that you may want more details, privacy laws prohibit us from sharing or confirming personally identifiable information about anyone who has tested positive. We appreciate your understanding of this.

Even though we are currently fully-remote, it is extremely important that all families continue to fill out the daily COVID-19 Health Screening Form. Please contact your school in the event that your child exhibits symptoms, undergoes testing, or tests positive for COVID-19.

Please continue to monitor your family for potential COVID-19 symptoms, wear a mask, stay socially distant, avoid exposure to people not from your household, wash your hands often, and stay home if someone in your household becomes sick.
