A Simple “Thank You!”

(December 31, 2020)

Chatham Families,

I wanted to take a moment before we say goodbye to 2020 to send one last communication to you that was not about positive COVID-19 cases, contract tracing, cyber attacks, pivoting to virtual learning or high voltage electrical issues!

It would be an understatement to say that 2020 has been a challenging year. I also would have told you that you were crazy back in March if you told me I would be writing all of you at the end of this year with concerns regarding COVID still on our minds. We, as a united Chatham Educational community, have been through a tremendous amount together this year. With that being said, I just wanted this message to be a simple Thank You to all of you for entrusting us with your precious gifts, your children, our students. The last 10 months have not gone perfectly by any stretch of the imagination, but one thing is certain, the entire Chatham staff has worked tirelessly to try educating the children of this community under these difficult circumstances. I greatly appreciate, more than you can ever imagine, your understanding and flexibility through these times.

May 2021 bring with it hope for returning to some sense of normalcy. May all of you experience good health and may we emerge from this pandemic stronger, and with an open-mindedness to leverage the lessons we have learned over the past 10 months. The urgency of the pandemic has forced us to think differently in many cases and it would be a travesty to not take advantage of the new knowledge we have regarding so many aspects of our lives.

Warm Regards and Happy New Year
