School Budget & Board Election Vote Tallied June 16

Per an executive order by Governor Cuomo, all voting for the June 9, 2020 School Budget Vote and Board of Education Election took place by absentee ballot and the District is allowed to receive absentee ballots by mail up to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2020. The vote will be tallied June 16 starting after 5:00 p.m. and the results will be announced that same evening.

In counting the vote, we ensure voter anonymity through a multi-step system we use to process absentee ballots. Prior to the ballot’s oath envelope being opened, the name, address and signature on the envelope is compared to the voter registry to confirm the voter is a resident eligible to vote in the election. A poll worker will then open the oath envelope and separate the folded ballot from the envelope. Only the folded ballot is transferred to an election inspector who unfolds it and, working with another poll worker, records the vote as presented on the ballot.

Due to the COVID-19 health crisis and as a transparency measure, the public will be able to observe the ballot counting via a live-streaming video link provided on our website.
