The District can no longer accept ballots by hand for the June 9, 2020 Budget Vote and Board Election. The District may accept ballots by mail through 5:00 p.m. June 16, 2020, per executive order by Governor Cuomo.
Update June 8, 2020 – The Governor has issued an Executive Order extending the deadline for school districts to receive school absentee budget ballots by mail. According to the Order, school districts can accept absentee ballots by hand delivery through 5:00 p.m. on June 9, 2020 and by mail through June 16, 2020. Any receptacle used for hand delivery of absentee ballots in such election shall be closed and removed at 5 p.m. on June 9, 2020; The ballots therein shall remain unopened pending delivery of mailed ballots, and will be counted after 5 p.m. on June 16, 2020.
Our District’s annual School Budget Vote and Board of Education Election is June 9, 2020 and will take place by absentee ballot only, per an executive order issued by Governor Andrew Cuomo. An absentee ballot and postage-paid return envelope was mailed out to every eligible voter on June 1. Absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on June 9, 2020 if delivered in person or by June 16, 2020 by mail in order to be counted. Counting of all ballots will begin after 5:00 p.m. on June 16.
You are an eligible voter if you are:
- A U.S. citizen
- At least 18 years old by June 9, 2020
- Registered to vote with either the School District or the Columbia County Board of Elections
- Live and have lived within the Chatham Central School District boundaries for at least 30 days prior to June 9, 2020
