Heather L. Damia, daughter of Jeff and Jeanne Damia, has been named Chatham High School’s Class of 2020 Valedictorian.
Throughout her time at CHS, Heather participated in the school orchestra and chorus, contributed pieces to the Art and Literary Magazine, and volunteered as a peer tutor in the library. She is a member of both the National Honor Society, where she serves as treasurer, and the Tri-M Music Honor Society, where she serves as president. This past year, she received a perfect score in the NYSSMA Solo Festival, and was able to attend the NYSSMA All-State Conference, where she sang first soprano in the Treble Choir. She also attended the New England Young Writers Conference at Middlebury College for poetry. For the last two years, she has served as a board member for the Chatham Education Foundation. She has participated as an actor in both the CHS Musical and the Fall Festival of Shakespeare for all four years of high school, as well as in the Spring Young Company program at Shakespeare and Company for three years. Academic accolades include numerous awards such as Student of the Quarter, Excellence in Effort, and Highest Overall Average in a variety of classes, as well as her status as a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. In the fall, Heather will be attending Dartmouth College, where she has yet to declare a major.
