Interested in serving your school and community? The Chatham Central School District Board of Education has three seats open for election in 2020. Candidates must be able to read and write, be a current resident of the District for at least one year, and be a qualified voter of the district (citizen of the U.S., at least 18 years of age or older).
Governor Cuomo has issued an Executive Order that rescheduled this year’s school elections to June 9. Based on new guidelines from the Governor’s Office, anyone interested in running for the Board may self-nominate by petition, which are available from the District Clerk. The Governor’s Executive Order waived the provision that required candidates to collect signatures on a candidate’s nominating petition. Candidates should complete the top portion of the petition indicating their name and address.
Candidates must return their petition to the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2020. Candidate names will be placed on the ballot in alphabetical order instead of by drawing lots.
District buildings are currently closed to visitors and operating at reduced staffing levels.
