Chatham Middle School’ National Junior Honor Society has long held a strong connection with area seniors. For her National Junior Honor Society service credit, Taylor VanWie is utilizing recycled glass bottles and lokta paper to create beautiful vases for area nursing homes. This week, she delivered several of her vases, filled with fresh cut flowers, to the Payn Home in Chatham for the residents there to enjoy. Her trip included participating in a community car parade that swung by the home in honor of resident Douglas Burgess’ 100th birthday. Mr. Burgess is a U.S. Navy veteran who served in World War II and who has visited CMS to share his experiences with our students.
