Letter from Principal Burns

(April 6, 2020)

Hello CMS Families and Students,

One full week of online learning is in the books. I know this is an adjustment for teachers, students, parents and our administration. I know many of you, myself included, feel overwhelmed with this shift to online learning and meetings. Please do not get discouraged. Reach out to your teachers or me if you are feeling overwhelmed or just need a break, this goes for parents as well!

This week I have received a few emails from students asking, “Mr. Burns, when do you think we will be back in school.” I wish I knew the answer to that question. This is new to us all and things are changing on a daily basis. What I do know is that we have something in place so that we can move forward academically. This new work is mandatory, but reasonable. Our overall goal is to work together to assist our students through this online platform. We want to be as flexible as possible, but also ensure our students are participating and handing in their assignments. As we learn more, specific guidance will be communicated through the Superintendent’s office.

Most important is our students safety and well being. I understand there will be roadblocks along the way, but don’t face them alone. We are still here, still checking in, and still thinking of each and every one of you. Working from home has made me realize just how hard it is to work, raise a family, and try to stay sane! Hang in there, we are all in this together. I appreciate every single one of you and I hope you are all healthy and doing well.

Sincerely,

Mr. Burns
