CCSD Special Education Services During School Closure

Dear Families,

We appreciate your patience and understanding during these difficult times.

While schools are closed per Governor Cuomo’s executive order, the school district must ensure that students with disabilities also have equal access to learning opportunities provided to general education students. including making every effort, to the greatest extent possible, that each student with a disability be provided the special education and related services set forth in their IEP.

Your child’s special education teachers and related service providers have been contacting you and your students via phone, email, google classroom, classroom dojo, or other virtual connections.  Teachers and related service providers are providing a variety of resources, materials, and activities that are designed to continue to allow your child to work on academic skills and IEP goals. They are available to answer any questions or concerns you may have with accessing the materials or information shared.

If your child’s Annual Review Meeting was canceled due to the closure we will be in touch with you to discuss a reschedule date or possible virtual alternatives for your child’s meeting.  Any pending evaluations will be continued when the school reopens.

Upon the reopening of schools, we will resume regular programming and services.  We will work with you and your child’s educational team to determine appropriate next steps.  Please continue to regularly check the district’s website for updates. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this challenging time.  If you have any questions I can be reached at
