“E-M-P-H-A-T-I-C” Spells Win for 6th Grader

Liam Drowne, a sixth grader at Chatham Middle School, is Chatham Central School District’s newest Spelling Champion. During CCSD’s Spelling Bee December 12, Liam correctly spelled “emphatic” to clinch the title and earn a spot at the Capital Region Spelling Bee held at Proctor’s Theatre in Schenectady on February 4! Eighth grader Lucia Bigelow and fourth grader Ava Lombardi were our co runners-up. The competition, streamed live from the CMS auditorium on December 12 for the world to enjoy, brought together our top spellers from grades four through eight. All the students in the Bee qualified for the competition by first winning spelling competitions at the classroom level. Congratulations to all our participants and good luck to Liam at regionals!
