Fire Prevention Day

Volunteer firefighters from local fire companies all over the Chatham Central School District visited MED November 1 for Fire Prevention Day. They brought along their trucks and firefighting gear to show the students and, during assemblies held in front of the school, shared what to do in the case of a fire emergency at home. They made Mr. Fortran, assistant principal at MED, an honorary firefighter by dressing him up in the firefighting gear they wear. The school then held a fire drill and after that, the firefighters went classroom to classroom to talk about fire safety with our students. Many of the visiting firefighters are Chatham graduates and parents. Springer got in on the action as well. Special thanks to all our volunteers!
