To keep in step with CCSD’s wellness goals, school psychologist Karen Souza organized a district-wide Stepping into Summer Challenge for staff. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends adults engage in 150 minutes of moderate activity every week, and the goal of the staff challenge was to promote the mental and physical wellness benefits of simply walking. Over 90 staff stepped up to the challenge, tracking the number of steps they took each day during the 30-day challenge to see who walked the most. As a group, they logged a total 4,644,983 steps – that equates to about 2,322 miles walked! Stepping into first place was special education teacher Rodney Stickles with 145,173 steps taken!
