This year for the fashion unit in Graphic Design, students were tasked with designing dresses using only paper. Coco Carmichael and Abygayle Leavenworth were the lead designers of their “Fashion Houses” with their classmates assisting them in putting the design together. Both designers used newspapers to execute their designs.
Coco designed a dress that she would like to wear. Her design is whimsical and fun; more in keeping with a party dress.
Abygayle was inspired by the prom season and wanted to make a long dress in a classic design, such as a trumpet dress. They also added a necklace made of paper cut from prom catalogs.
Last year two parents, Mrs. Conte and Mrs. Bulson, graciously loaned the art department dress forms for students to creating their dresses on. This year, the Fine Arts Booster Club purchased two dress forms for the students to use every year. “I would like to thank them for this generous and thoughtful donation,” said CHS art teacher Patrice Tomasso.
This is the Graphic Design classes second year doing this fashion design project. Both years have proven to be a tremendous success and we look forward to seeing what students will design next year.
