Margot Marie Schassler, daughter of Karyn B. Schassler and Steven G. Schassler, sister to Katharine Delaney Schassler, has earned Chatham High School’s Class of 2019 Valedictorian status.
Margot’s high school career has included serving as the president of the National Honor Society, and participating in National Art Honor Society, Technology Tutors, Model Congress, Ecology Club, Photography Club, Community Service Club, Shakespeare and Company, Math League, CHS Newspaper Club, and the Art and Literary Magazine, as well as running on the Varsity Track Team and serving as Captain of the Varsity Tennis Team. Additionally, Margot organized a blood drive for the Red Cross at CHS this fall. She has received various honors including the Rochester Institute of Technology Innovation and Creativity Award, the University of Rochester George Eastman Young Leaders Award, and other awards, such as the NYS Education Department Academic Excellence, the CHS Principal’s, CHS Administration, CHS Art, National Association of Women in Construction, Riders Mills Historical Association, American Red Cross Blood Service, Hay, Cha-Nel, Elks Association, Queechy Lake Association, Operation Unite, SEFCU, and NY Credit Union Association. She also designed the 2020 logo for the Capital District Engineers Week.
In the fall, Margot will start at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), major in Architectural Engineering, and focus on earning WPI’s notable alumni status on Google.
