Congratulations to Chatham seniors Allyssa Rippel, Cherish O’Connell, Jacob Mesick, and Michael Moore, who have been recognized through the Business Employment Standards Transition (BEST) Program for having outstanding portfolios. The BEST Program is a collaborative effort that engages Columbia & Greene County businesses, schools, and Questar III BOCES to prepare students for success after high school. The program utilizes standards developed by local businesses to verify students’ career and college readiness. Student readiness is demonstrated through each student’s creation of a portfolio that is reviewed by the program coordinator and local businesses. Students who receive an overall score of 85 or higher on benchmarks related to academic performance, attendance, community involvement, and workplace readiness are awarded the BEST Certificate. Allyssa, Cherish, Jacob, and Michael received their certificates during a ceremony held at Questar III’s Columbia-Greene Educational Center. The BEST Program is funded by the Greene County Planning and Economic Development and supported by the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce & Greene County Chamber of Commerce.
