Congratulations to Chatham senior Keon Armstrong, who is the Section 2 Tennis Champion for the Individuals Tournament!

He played two matches on Tuesday May 28 (a semifinal and a final) and won both. In his first match Keon beat the #1 seed, Nick Grasso from Saratoga, in an action-packed match, scoring 2-5, 7-6(7-5), 7-6(8-6). He then went on to defeat the #3 seeded player, Eric Schuman from Averill Park, 6-3, 6-1 in the finals.

With the win, Keon headed to the New York State Tennis Tournament at the National Tennis Center in Queens May 30 and 31, where he took 2nd place in the consolation bracket. Go Keon and Go Panthers!

“This is a fantastic achievement and ranks Keon as one of the best tennis players in the entire state. He has already proven himself as the best tennis player in Section 2,” remarked Chatham tennis coach Michael Griggs.
