Helping Mothers and Babies in Uganda

Denice Dapice and Bishop Tom Kiiza visited Chatham’s elementary, middle, and high schools on March 12 to talk to about The Lauren Dapice Maternal and Child Ward that was recently established in western Uganda. The clinic provides a safe place for labor and delivery as well as basic primary care. They also shared their plans to develop safe water resources for the clinic and provide it with medical supplies and equipment through a partnership with Supplies Over Seas. The ward is part of The Mama Sabina Community Health Centre in the village of Kisebere and is named after Ms. Dapice’s daughter, a Chatham graduate who had a dream of helping children in need and who passed away in 2012 at the age of 23. Our schools are now developing a plan for how our students can help raise funds to support these efforts. To find out more information, please visit
